Under 10 Red v Ipswich 31/7/2010

What a great day for football the weather was fantastic.  Welcome back to Mackenzie and Jackson from injury it was
great to see. With Ipswich short of players we had to give them two players to start with and thanks to all the boys
who went and played for them.  With our game plan layed out we took the field and started off on fire.  With the ball coming
out of the ruck and going to the forward line we started to show our team work.  With the back defending well we stayed in
touch of Ipswich.

But we seem to fall into the same old habits each week by not manning up in parts we fall of and this needs to be your
main goal to stay on your player the whole match.  You all need to chase the ball down and gather it up as quickly as
possible and clear it from the pack we seem to do this a bit better in the 3rd and 4th quarter.  We did well this week
by listening to the umpire when he said release we did release but on some occasions a couple of players still held on
and this resulted in a free kick this only lets down your team members and their hard work they have done to get the
ball into the forward line.

When kicking the ball out after a point is scored you need to kick it to a team memeber who is making a lead instead of to
yourself as sometimes this results in a turn over and the oppostion scoring a goal.  It is okay to do this if everyone has been
manned up but you need to be kicking long instead.  Also when the oppostion has the ball you all need put pressure them in numbers
as this worked for Ipswich and they got a number of turnovers of us by using this method.

Well done to Tyson for receiving player of the match you have improved so much this year it is pleasing to see.  Well done to the whole
team it was great to see you playing as a TEAM and helping each other out in all 4 quarters.  With two more matches to go
if everyone could put in 100% we will end the season on a high.

Thanks Neil

10 Reds v Sherwood

UNDER 10 RED vs SHERWOOD

It was a great day for footy on Saturday with the sun shining and we were ready for football. We had 14 team members and Sherwood only having 12 the interchange was used throughout the game. Well done to Luke & Riley who constantly back up each week with having played for the under 9's before our game. With the whistle being blown 3 times before Sherwood took the field we showed great patience. With the first quarter under way we started off with great team work and before we knew it a couple of goals were scored.

We are still finding it hard to man up which lets the other team take control and puts pressure on the back line. As a team if we all man up we will all find it easier to hold the ball instead of giving it up to the other team. Another thing is make space you all jam up and when it is kicked to the pack you often lose it to the other team.

So this week at training everyone will have a opposition which will stay with you the whole training session. This will teach you to either stay with your man and get the ball or you will stop him/her getting the ball. You are all playing to the best of your ability but if we can go that little further it will put you in a great position for next year when you play under 11's. I am very proud of the effort you all put in each week.

Well done to Samantha for being captain this week she took a big knock while trying to get the ball forward and to her credit she continued on after a short break. Fantastic work by Tyson who chased the ball all day also to Robbie, Harrison and Tommy who did well. Well done to Niklaus who smothered quite a few kicks as well as Sara for taking a great mark in the middle. Congratulation to Luke who received the player of the match great game. You are all great players.

A big thank you to Ruth & John Hurst who supplied the team with a drink and hot dog after the game it was a kind gesture thanks heaps.

Don't forget no games over the holidays and we start training again 14/7/10 and our first game is against Park Ridge so everyone practice your skills over the holidays. Thanks to all the parents who help out each week it is great to see. Have a great holiday everyone.

Under 10 Red v Springfield Lakes 13/06/2010

Well we travelled out to Springfield on a very cold Saturday morning for our match and we were ready to play. We started off on fire in our defence and not a point was scored it was a hard slog but we managed to man up and stop them from scoring. We moved the ball and we managed to either kick or hand pass to our own players which was great to see, team work is the way to make us score.

Every player who played in the centre made a difference as we seem to make it count coming thru the middle. With great ruck work and good roving we seemed to be all over the ball which made it easier to get it to the forward line. Once in the forward line we all worked hard to score goals. Great work Tommy and Harrison for defending and really working hard to stop goals well done.

Well done to Luke who chased the ball down to kick a great goal. Well done to Niklaus who took a great mark in the 3rd quarter and also for receiving the player of the match great effort. Also great to see Samantha getting in there and fighting for the ball great effort good to see.

I also want you to understand when I ask you to change with a player I want you to just do it as this is a team sport and we should be playing as a team not individuals I am the coach and we need to be fair to all players.

Great game Team it was great to watch you all.

Thanks to everyone who turned up I know it was cold but it was a good match to watch.

Thanks Neil
