A great win this week as the boys really put together 4 good quarters of football.
Connor was our captain this week and showed us some real determination. Our back line really stood up to a test with Jake getting stuck into the pack again and getting the ball out. Jake is like a terrier in those packs and his team can rely on the ball coming out to them if Jakes in there.
Cody (Best on Ground) was fantastic in our last line of defense and ran the ball out delivering it to our running players. Ben, Caleb and Aidan did an awesome job through the centre. Tom (encouragement award) and Saxyn ran off the backline giving support to these players. Jared K was once again a good target for us up forward with Kurt playing a supporting role. I thought that Adam and Matt had great games and were full of run, dropping into gaps when we needed them to and taking marks. Jarred H was hard at the ball and held his marks and moved the ball on quickly.
Shepherding, Tackling and hip and shoulders were awesome and Aidan and Saxyn showed us how its done. Michael played a pivotal roll in changing into the centre position as Ben was spent from two quarters full of run. Michael worked hard and kept at it even as he was cramping up.
Overall a great game, If I was to mention one negative that would be that we didn’t get in front of our opposition so maybe something we can work on.Well done boys, keep up the great work and keep enjoying your footy.

Under 11 Red v Park ridge 13/06/2010
Over half way through the season now and the boys are showing improvement and are endeavoring to bring what they learn at training to the game day.
This game was no exception with some great shepherding and hip and shoulders while going hard at the ball. We just needed to pick the ball up first. Something we will be working on at training.
Aidan was captain on the day and showed true grit and determination. We saw glimpses of some truly great football with the boys playing on and running. The backline saw a lot of the football on the day and they used the ball well; most notably the long kick outs after the opposition had scored a minor. A little more under pressure marking practice I think could be in order though.
We had two under 10 players playing for us and both Kye and Declan played a good game, not taking a backward step to the intimidation tactics that were being played out by the opposition.
Connor and Adam were awarded the awards for the day as they put in 100 % and showed some real improvement in their games.
We got a lot out of this game even though it was not the result we would have liked. Keep training hard boys and we will improve every week. Most important though keep having fun.
A big thank you to our sponsors of Under 11 Red.

A great day for football, as we played leopards red today and I would just like to say to them great game and the under 12's are looking good for next year with what I saw out there today from both sides so well done.
To my guys I couldn’t be happier with you, the way you moved the ball looking for each other, giving shepards when needed and the tackling was great apart from a few slings so we have to work on that at training guys as you are aware it is not allowed. The centers set up the game from the start with aggressive go get for the ball and with help from the forwards finishing it off, but I have to say the back line great defense, you fort hard to keep the ball out and you did that perfectly. The goal kicking in the first quarter let us down a bit kicking 6-7 points but from the second quarter you got your eye in and the goals started coming in from then.
I would like to say to my boys I told you from day one that things would start to fall into place over time and your football would get better and the team work would be great to watch and now through hard work and listening to what I want you to do its starting to pay off with results so keep up the good work.

The local derby was a great showcase of the under 11’s at the Calamvale Leopards Club. It was definitely one of the best games to watch so far this year.
Our boys from the mighty reds came out of the blocks fast and were in control of the first centre bounce with Cody, Tom and Caleb driving the ball forward. The Blues came back at us hard but our defense stood strong with some great courage and tenacity shown from our captain Jake, he was in and under the pack and received good support from Saxyn and Kurt. Jarrod H put us on the scoreboard with a great goal.
The first half of the second quarter saw us with the majority of possession and our under 10 recruits Declan and Joel were hard at the ball with some awesome chase and tackles. Michael playing at full back gave us every chance to move the ball forward with his long penetrating kicks. Jared K was playing like a small forward with quick hands and crumbing off the packs. The loose ball was often created from fierce tackling from Adam.
In the third Aiden was chasing hard and his bump and shepherding was instrumental in our push into our forward 50. Our players have got some great targets to kick to in the forward line with Ben taking some good grabs, Jarrod H and Michael also showing some good form in the forward 50 . Tom, Caleb and Saxyn ran hard through the centre and into the forward line all day. Matt was also hard at it with his head over the ball not willing to give an inch. The last quarter was another showcase from the under 10 boys playing up , Kye showed great skill and read the ball well.
The Fourth quarter really seems to be our quarter as I feel that the boys all put in a huge effort in the last quarter in every game we have played, and this game was no exception. They all put in 100% and I think their tanks were empty when the siren went. Our Goal Kickers for the day were, Caleb, Jarrod H and Michael.
An awesome effort from the under 11’s and a great day for the club.
