The Under 12s were on the road again this week for the trip to Kenmore on a very chilly Sunday morning. From the first bounce, the boys played with the effort, run and hunger for the ball that we’ve wanted from them all season. It was still ugly football and we’ve seen better skill demonstrations from them this year but they were all heart and courageous at the ball. The boys kicked four goals in each of the first second and fourth quarters and survived a Kenmore resurgence in the third term. The effort from the boys was very good and should be commended.
Dean was back from injury this week and will benefit from training and getting some match fitness. If we can maintain the level of effort and run, continue to improve our skills and get Lochie back from injury and Pat back from representative duties, this team will be a force in the finals.
Congratulation to Mack on his 100th game. Happy birthday to Pavvy (thanks for the cake) and Brian!

The Under 12s made the trek to the magnificent surrounds of Sheldon College this week. Despite the weekly admonitions from the coaching staff to get an early night Saturday night and to come along to the game switched on, the team took to the field half asleep and as a result Sheldon ran rings around us of the first two quarters. The half time score was 4-2 to 2-1 in Sheldon’s favour.
In the third quarter the boys woke up somewhat and we gave Kyle and Hursty tagging roles on their best players. This strategy worked well and with their best players neutralised, our centers were able to get the ball forward to produce a 5 goal third quarter with the wind and a three goal to one fourth term. The taggers did a great job and the frustration from the Sheldon players showed in their off the ball bumps.

Goals: Pat 2, O’Dea 2, Alec, Stuie, Tollie, Cody, Saxyn and Jarrod, one each.
