1/8 v Logan/MtGravatt
Calamvale 13-18-96 Def Mt Gravatt Logan 3-6-24

Calamvale U16 boys had a early start to their game against Mt Gravatt/Logan the team was required to be at the ground at 8am Sunday morning although a few boys still had sleep in their eyes all players where very keen to win this game and guarantee a top 2 spot on the ladder. Leopards have a hugh injury toll at present and missed 6 players on the weekend this left the team with some tough choices to restructure the team to cope with  the injuries.

Thankyou to Deano &  U14 players & their parents who made themselves available to assist with playing numbers until half time as it was appreciated by the coaching staff and the entire U16 playing group. WELL DONE

The game commenced with both teams fielding 17 players each !

It was very pleasing to see the entire playing group step up to the plate and compete all day with intent & vigour for the football. Beau was back to his brilliant best and took it upon himself to take the game on breaking the lines continually providing plenty of ball to our forwards. Zeb was outstanding yet again winning the ball out of the centre and continued to provide his team with a marking option unfortunately Zeb was  sent off the ground during the game and was also suspended on the weekend after a altercation with his direct opponent. Zeb the team will defiantly miss your leadership and your football smarts. Jake had another strong game booting 2 goals and also giving us plenty of drive out of the centre, Jake received a heavy knock in the third quarter and was taken to hospital. It was nice to see the entire playing group going over to the ambulance to congratulate him on his inspirational effort. It was also great to see Mt Gravatt/ Logan officials wish him well and to show concern for Jake also. Thankyou !

Our forward line worked well together led by Shane 4 goals he lead well all day and took some strong, Angry 3, Brodie 2, Jake 2 and U14 player Hilly kicked a great goal also ! All of our forwards worked hard all day and placed plenty of pressure on Mt Gravatt defence not allowing them to get the ball out easily Angry as always provided plenty of spark up forward and any ball that hit the ground he pounced on.
Timmsy & Nathan both had fantastic games yet again winning plenty of the hard ball continuously and they carried a hugh work load all day Great Effort, Jessie played well for the entire game down in defence and read the play brilliantly to win plenty of ball and turned defence into attack on many occasions. Corsa the big unit was strong again and drove the ball forward all day with his long penetrating kicks. Down back our defence was excellent Nick & Happy fantastic.

Well Done Leopards Courageous Win

Big Game This Week Against Centrals

Thanks Chris

25/7 v Alex Hills
U16 Match Review Round 11

Calamvale 11.11.77  Def  Alex Hills 7.6.48

Leopards U16 played Alex Hills at home on Sunday in front of a large Calamvale crowd - Thanks for all the support from the Junior Calamvale teams who stayed and cheered on the U16 Leopards.

It turned out to be a very long day for our boys as all players arrived early for the annual team photo. All of the boys were ready and preparing well for the task ahead taking on the finals bound Alex Hills unfortunately a ambulance was required for a U14 player and our game was delayed for 45 minutes this took its toll on our p[layers as when the game did start the team was very flat and lacked the enthusiasm and drive that the boys have shown over the season. I would say that this game was our least impressive display of the season yet we still won and it does show that we still have plenty of work to do prior to finals.

Calamvale did show some outstanding passages of play to control the game all day and when Alex Hills did place pressure on our boys the Leopards were able to step up a gear. Everyone had a smile on our face when Lauchy pushed forward marked and put thru a nice goal it was fantastic to see lots of players give him a pat on the back - Well done
It was very pleasing to see Happy play a vital role in the team on Sunday he read the play well and gave off a heap of handballs to our running players keep it up Happy. Although our forward line was congested at times it was great to see Shane back to his best leading well taking strong marks and kicking a couple of goals.

Yet again we have lost a player to injury Chris Hammond - Broken Arm. I would personally like to send out my congratulations to Chris for his outstanding year he is always ready for a tough contest and continually put his body on the line for his team. We have used Chris in a varity of positions this year Full Back, Ruck Rover, Half Back you are a asset to this team and will be sorely missed. Lets hope you can get back in time for finals as you are part of the reason we are on top of ladder !

Fantastic Work Chris Hammond

Congratulations boys you did win and remain on top of the ladder- Best Players Nathan Burns, Jake, Timmsy, Chris ,Happy & Nick
