| Under 11 Match Report 27/6/09 |
|
Calamvale Blue v Calamvale Red The Blues took on the our Red's on Saturday in a game that showcased at lot of future talent at the club. With ground conditions that would only make a Victorian smile, both teams went about the game in a very good, well spirited format. With both teams missing some players, some under 10's and even under 9's stepped up and were not phased with the increased contact and much larger ground and quicker play. Well done to all those boys, it was excellent to see! The clearances from the mud bath in the centre helped our blues gain some ascendency as they quickly moved the ball into our converting forwards. Sheparding, ferocious tackling and helping out team mates were our goals for the day and all were well met. All the boys are improving each week and both teams should be congratulated for the high level of play on a ground that was virtually underwater and very muddy. (I'm sure they loved it!). A standout for the Blues was Will Walsh, whose ground work and marking was outstanding. He also showed a gritty side to himself by continualy putting his body between his team mates and the opposition, which was exactly what we wanted to see. Well done Will, Skipys Pest Control's player of the Match. Thanks again to all the Parents, I hope your cars didn't get too messy on the way home! Another reminder that there are additional training sessions available Monday's and Thursday's 4.30 - 6.00. Also, there is still the potential for boys to play in the under 12 competition. Please see myself or Fred Meddings (Under 12 coach), for details. |
